10th Annual Y for All for Fundraiser

t is that time of year again, we are gearing up for the Sunday afternoon extravaganza of music and fun that is our annual Y for All, Salem YMCA fundraiser. Can you believe that it has been Ten Years since Bill Legault put together our first fundraiser? Time flies.

This year's date will be Sunday, June 14th. Yes, that's Flag Day too!

As is tradition, Ronnie Deschenes and the Black Hat Project will be providing the musical entertainment and the Shanty will be donating 5% of her sales from the day to the Y. Guest bartenders will be donating all of their tips to the YMCA as well.

We will have our traditional raffle featuring donated items from our community of supporters including a giant lobster cooked any way you want for you and a few friends. Prefer to set him free? You can totally do that too

We are trying to secure a DUNK TANK so that you can dunk your favorite local celebrities & politicians. So far, we have secured one William Legault and a Mr. Joseph Quigley to get wet for our cause. We'll keep you updated as this story develops.

We are now accepting raffle prize donations from citizens and businesses alike. Please stop by the Shanty, email us at lobstershanty@earthlink.net or message us here on Facebook for information & details.

As always, monetary donations are gratefully accepted. Please make checks payable to the Salem YMCA.

Last year we donated a total of $5,035.
Let's see if we can get that total up to $6.000 for 2015!

FEATURED SPIRITS

Prohibition Edition 50% ABV (100 US PROOF)

Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition

Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition

Released 90 years after the end of the era which it celebrates, Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition has been crafted as a salute to the notorious Captain William McCoy, who smuggled Cutty Sark blended Scotch whisky into America during the Prohibition era of the 1920s.  Captain McCoy’s impeccable reputation for fairness and dealing only in the finest, genuine and unadulterated liquor gave rise to Cutty Sark being referred to as “The Real McCoy”. Prohibition Edition is bottled at 50% ABV (100 Proof – USA Measure), whilst our regular Cutty Sark blend is 40% ABV. This is a “small batch” blend of the finest single malts and top-quality grain whiskies.  Hand-selected American oak casks give subtle signature flavours of vanilla and citrus fruits, whilst the overall flavours and finish are extremely smooth and thrillingly complex. The black glass bottle has a cork seal – reflecting the traditions of the time.

Bluecoat American Dry Gin

Bluecoat American Dry Gin

Bluecoat American Dry Gin is an aromatic gin with a bouquet designed for a defined palate. This is derived from the "secret" blend of all certified organic botanicals, a list which includes the required juniper berries, along with an American citrus peel selection, sweet orange and lemon peel. The result of Bluecoat's small batch process is a divinely pure and natural-tasting gin that makes a fine cocktail base.

American Distilling Institute: Best of Class and Category, Amber Rum

Old Ipswich "Tavern Style' Rum

Old Ipswich "Tavern Style' Rum

October 2012; Gold Medal Winner; Ministry of Rum Competition, Chicago, IL

In colonial days New Englanders discovered the joys of barrel aged rums almost by mistake. Those rums that spent time in American oak barrels took on a whole new character. Old Ipswich Tavern Rum is a recreation of this more refined spirit. It combines the great flavors of our White Cap rum with the more robust notes of new White Oak barrels. For those who enjoy their rums with a bold character, Tavern Style Rum is your choice.

Templeton Rye

Templeton Rye

Templeton Rye

When Prohibition outlawed the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages in 1920, many enterprising residents of a small town in Iowa chose to become outlaws – producing a high caliber and much sought-after whiskey known as Templeton Rye, or "The Good Stuff" to those in the know. Based on the original Prohibition era recipe and aged in charred new oak barrels, Templeton Rye provides a smooth finish and a clean getaway.

Jeffersons Bourbon Two Ways

It is finally time to tap the Jefferson's bourbon barrel. The 8 week aged cocktail is  ready, offering you the perfect bourbon Manhattan strait from the spout; chilled or as is. Or bring it to another level and make it a Persephone's Manhattan adding a touch of pomegranate juice, a ginger simple syrup and a hint of orange liqueur

Jefferson’s Ocean: Aged at Sea - Inspired by the original Jefferson’s Ocean, which was new-filled bourbon barrels, the Jefferson’s Ocean: Aged at Sea uses older bourbon barrels and travels around the world. stopping in 5 different continents and crossing the equator 4 times, this bourbon truly is a world traveler.
